About the work
This three-piece set made for drinking chocolate was designed and executed with ornate and luxurious detail. It is outfitted with intricate gold mounts, a lapis lazuli base to hold the spoon, and fine porcelain and glass beakers for imported spiced chocolate. The porcelain tray is painted with a trellis pattern and floral motifs. Two profile portraits of an aristocratic man and woman are separately framed in the center of the tray.
