Medium: silk on wool Technique: embroidery stitches are stem, herringbone, satin and darning stitches on plain weave foundation. Squares of the foundation fabric have been cut away at the center of each darning cross. The four corner crosses are plain weave, the others are basket, twill and plain weave.
